Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour

Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 6-inch round cake pan
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt
- In a separate bowl, mix buttermilk, oil, egg, and vanilla extract
- Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix until combined
- Stir in hot water until batter is smooth
- Pour batter into prepared pan
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until toothpick inserted comes out clean
- Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then remove to wire rack
- For frosting, beat butter until creamy
- Gradually add powdered sugar and cocoa powder
- Add milk and beat until smooth
- Frost cooled cake and serve
