Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup red wine
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in large saucepan over medium heat
  2. Add onion and garlic, cooking until softened
  3. Add crushed tomatoes and tomato paste
  4. Stir in red wine and sugar
  5. Season with salt, pepper, and herbs
  6. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer
  7. Cook for 20 minutes until thickened
  8. Stir in fresh basil
  9. Serve over ravioli
  10. Garnish with Parmesan cheese
