Ingredients

  • 3 pounds beef short ribs
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup rice wine
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 1/2 cup onions, sliced
  • 1/2 cup carrots, sliced
  • 1/2 cup daikon radish, sliced
  • 1/2 cup shiitake mushrooms
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Soak short ribs in cold water for 30 minutes to remove blood
  2. Drain and pat dry
  3. In a large pot, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, rice wine, and sesame oil
  4. Add garlic, ginger, and black pepper
  5. Add short ribs and bring to a boil
  6. Reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour
  7. Add onions, carrots, daikon, and mushrooms
  8. Continue simmering for 30 minutes until vegetables are tender
  9. Add green onions and sesame seeds
  10. Simmer for 10 more minutes
  11. Serve hot with steamed rice
