Special Notes
This perfect portion for two makes an ideal romantic breakfast or cozy morning meal. Using thick, slightly stale bread helps the toast hold its shape and absorb the custard mixture without becoming mushy. For extra richness, you can add a splash of heavy cream to the egg mixture. The key is not to over-soak the bread - just a quick dip on each side is enough.
