Baked Steak Recipe
Ingredients
- 4 beef steaks (ribeye, sirloin, or strip steaks), 1 inch thick
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C)
- Remove steaks from refrigerator 30 minutes before cooking to bring to room temperature
- Pat steaks dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt and black pepper
- Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat
- Sear steaks for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown
- Add butter, garlic, rosemary, thyme, paprika, and red pepper flakes to the skillet
- Baste the steaks with the melted butter and herbs
- Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven
- Bake for 8-12 minutes for medium-rare, or until desired doneness
- Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving
Special Notes
This method produces perfectly cooked steaks with a beautiful crust and tender interior. The oven finish ensures even cooking throughout the steak. For medium-rare, the internal temperature should reach 135°F (57°C). Let the steaks rest after cooking to allow the juices to redistribute for maximum tenderness and flavor.
